Part-Time Summer Nanny - Carmel Valley, San Diego
Family in Carmel Valley is seeking summer help, mainly for their 16 year old daughter with special needs. They also have a 14 year old who may be home some of the time (will likely be in some summer camps). 16 year old has a genetic disorder that causes some physical and intellectual disabilities. She is sweet, loving and connects well with a caregiver who will take an interest in the things she likes and is willing to work to understand her communication. Their ideal candidate has previous experience with varying special needs and is open to learning all the nuances of their daughter!
*Note: Must be comfortable helping 16 year old with toileting and hygiene.

$30-$35 per hour DOE

Position will run from the beginning of June through mid-August
Children:
16 year old - Has a genetic disorder called CDG which causes some intellectual and physical disability. She communicates using a combination of her own gestures, ASL, and an AAC device. Her favorite activities are going to the library, the grocery store, and restaurants. She loves Harry Potter, Disney movies, and shows like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Word World. She is also diagnosed with Epilepsy, but hasn’t had a seizure in about 3 years since starting medication.
14 year old - Will be a rising 9th grader and will be attending some summer camps. Is mostly self sufficient, but will still want to connect and talk with the nanny.

Responsibilities:
All aspects of care for 16 year old including engaging with her in her preferred activities, preparing meals and snacks, assisting with toileting and hygiene as needed.
Requirements:
3+ years of professional childcare experience, including experience with special needs
Patient,
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Infant/Child CPR Certified
Trustline Registered or willing to register
Able to work legally in the US
