Full-Time Nanny/Family Assistant - San Diego, CA 92127

Busy family in the Del Sur neighborhood of San Diego is seeking a reliable, proactive nanny/family assistant to support their household. They have 2 boys ages 9 and 12 who are in school full time, the role will involve household support in the first part of the day and childcare support in the after school hours. Both boys are diagnosed as being on the Autism spectrum, but are in mainstream classes as school. Mom is a physician and works outside of the home, Dad works hybrid and travels several times a month. Their ideal nanny is extremely reliable, can be warm and loving with the boys while holding strong boundaries, and has previous experience in a family assistant role. Must be comfortable swimming with the boys in their pool, up to date on Covid and Flu vaccines, and bonus if you speak Spanish. Parents value education, limiting screen time, fostering independence, and living a healthy lifestyle. They are looking for a long term commitment, ideally they will the right fit who can stay for the next 5 years!

Location:

Del Sur neighborhood of San Diego, 92127

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 11am 7pm

Flexibility for early morning start (around 6am) 1-2 days per month, with 3-4 weeks advance notice

Rate:

$32-$40 per hour DOE, paid on payroll. Overtime as applicable.

Children in the home:

Boy, 9 - He is in 3rd grade currently. He is the less obviously Autistic of the two, his diagnosis came up just in the last year or so. They are currently doing some ABA therapy for him. He is very sensitive, struggles with being corrected.

Boy, 12 - He is currently in 6th grade. His Autism presents as rigidity, having a hard time with transitions, and being a strict rule follower. He gets really into his specific interests. He needs a nanny who can be calm, hold space for him during emotional outbursts, give him strategies to calm down, help with coping strategies.

Neither of the boys are into sports, but they do Karate and go to a trainer once a week to stay active. They do swimming in the summers. Parents would like a nanny who will engage with them in activities and keep them active and off screens, especially in the summer while they are out of school. Both boys are in mainstream classrooms at school and communicate well.

Responsibilities:

While the boys are in school, perform family assistant duties such as family laundry, dishes, meal prep including making school lunches for the next day, and running errands. The 12 year old takes the bus home from school and arrives around 2:50pm, the nanny will then take him and pick up the younger child from school. Some days the nanny will take them to extracurricular activities, parents like to take them when their work schedule allows. Help with homework after school as needed, engage with the boys in fun activities and limit screen time. Help prepare dinner for the boys and dinner clean up. The boys have chores they are responsible for, they would like the nanny to help the boys get into a better routine of completing their chores as they want to foster a sense of independence and responsibility.

Requirements:

5+ years of professional childcare experience, including experience with school aged children

Previous experience in a family assistant role involving both childcare and household help

Self-motivated, proactive, warm and engaging

Extremely reliable and punctual

Comfortable swimming with the boys, they have a pool in their backyard

Child CPR certified

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, reliable vehicle for transporting the kids

Trustline Registered or willing to register

Able to work legally in the US

Up to date on vaccines for Covid and Flu

Bonus if you speak Spanish

Experience with Autism is preferred, but not required
